Write a few paragraphs about your Diversity Essay Example

Write a few paragraphs about your Diversity Essay My diversity as a person is very crucial to who I am of course. I seem to have this ability called consistency. I am able to replicate a certain action; this action is more of an ability. I am able to give 100% effort in everything I do. I have acquired this by seeing the results of my very own efforts leading me to success. I do not take on a project with giving my all. 2.  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   What is your strategic plan for your future? Are you clear where you are heading? Personal and Professional. What are you focused on that might help you achieve your goals? What obstacles might be standing in your way? Self imposed or other obstacles? My Plans for the future could be described as complex. I have many goals, both long and short term.   I have had the luxury of being surrounded by great people throughout my life to direct me in the right direction and give great advice. I believe with a combination of this luxury and the determination that I have acquired through life and of course a little luck my goals will become reality. That is the main reason why I chose to come to Nova Southeastern University. With such a great dental and orthodontic graduate program, I thought it would be a great advantage to attend NSU from the undergraduate level.   I would like to finish my undergraduate career here at NSU with a   double major and a minor. I have a major in psychology and plan to get my second one in business administration and a minor in sociology.   The reason I chose to major in business administration is to help me grasp an understanding of how to run an orthodontist office from the business aspect.   This process should take me another 2 years   where I see myself graduated and starting my dental school. That process should then take another 2-3 years where then I   can finally tackle on the orthodontist aspect of my schooling career. Another goal that I am working towards is being a basketball coach. basketball is a very important aspect of my life. I have been playing since the age of 6 and I currently play for the   basketball at NSU. I would love to play at the professional level overseas. but that is more a dream than a goal. Since basketball has always been a big part of my life I   do not see myself moving away from it. When my playing days are over I still plan to have basketball   a part of my life and I plan to do that by coaching. I have started by coaching middle school/high school kids. I am also deeply involved in my team. Our team is a   group of handpicked kids who are chosen to compete around the United States. I plan to stick with this team as they continue to grow as students of the game. My personal goals are probably where it gets a little hectic. I have a goal to have a family in the future but as far as when and who I want to settle down with is still a mystery. I am very family orie nted even more so after the passing of my mother. I find myself (being the oldest of 13 children) playing a big role in my family. I see myself as big brother, father, mentor for many if not all my siblings. With that being said, it is not that I dont want to have my own family I just see so many great   quality in my own family that I am a bit picky about who my significant other will be. I feel that I have a lot of different paths in life to become something in this world. At times it is overwhelming but I try to always look at the big picture and use my mother and family as motivation to try to better myself as a person. So far I feel happy with my accomplishments but by no means do i feel complacent. I still have far much to accomplish. 3.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   What   compliance systems do you have to conform to? Parental, family, obligations, school, legal, work etc. I have many compliance systems to conform to, everyone does. Some individuals conform better than others and those who have the ability or better yet the will to do so have better success in life. Conforming is only good if it is bettering that individual or the situation a person is in. For example: to conform with a group of trouble makers would not necessarily be the right thing to do but in the   case for family, school and work for the most part leads you to success. 4.  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   What is your vision for your career? How do you see yourself being involved in work in the future? How will you achieve work life balance? What are the challenges today and as you anticipate the aging process? I hardly have a career in a technical sense; I am still in the preparation stage   of my career which in this case is obviously school.   In the future I plan to run my own orthodontist office.    As far as coaching, I plan to take that day by day.   I see this as more of my fun time than a career but I do understand if   I do a well enough job I could make it a career.   I think the career of an orthodontist is something I can do for a while. I see that   me aging will not affect me much. I can see myself engaged in my work for 20+ years. 5.  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   Do you see yourself Changing careers in the future years? do you think you will stay in the same industry. Like I mentioned in the last question, I see myself doing this for 20+ years until i   retire. If I were to change my profession it would probably be to coach basketball fulltime. 6.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   What training and development plans do you have for yourself? Past, present, and future? The training being done for my future would   be going to school to be an orthodontist. And as for coaching, I think by continuing coaching   my team and attending coaching clinics I will gain the experience needed to flourish as a coach. 7.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚     How motivated are you? What is your attitude to life and work? How would you appraise your performance to date in your family system, at work, at school, with friends? I would like to believe that I am a very motivated person. This   has not always been the case; prior to my mothers death I was a very passive person with a minimal list of goals. I seem to have found motivation in my mothers death. I was an ignorant person who did not realize what he had for a mother. I use   the fact that I do not want to feel   that all my mothers dedication   to me and my life could go to no avail if I do not make the most of my life. It has become a way of life for me to hear my mothers voice in my head when I know I am not giving my 100% or not making the best decision.  Ã‚   Doing things with 100% effort,   100% of time is my motto after the passing of my mother. Her death has showed me that there is nothingguaranteed in life.   So not knowing when my last day on earth may be, I try my hardest in every aspect of my life 8.  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   What plans do you have for money management? Do you understand the value of money? Being a college student, money management is a very important value or concept to grasp. I feel that to a certain degree I understand this concept. I have a system where 30% of my monthly earnings are put into a savings account just in case for one of those   so called rainy days. With the way the economy is these days and the amount of jobs being lost, it is needed to have a savings. There is no telling when a   job could be lost and even worse there is no telling when a new one will be available. 9.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   What is your self worth? How much do you think you are worth in the market place? Do you think your value will increase with experience? How will you know when you have arrived? Measuring self worth is a tough task. There is no concrete way to measure   self worth, what I feel of myself is not necessary what its true measure it.   The closest way to get a true value of   evaluate ones determination effort and combine that with his or hers success. So if that is what we are going to go by to determine   self worth then I would say mine is very high. In everything I do in life is with maximum effort and I have a high level success. For example,   the team that I currently coach I put in more effort and go beyond the call. I work after practice with some of my   players and even have film sessions to better not only my players   but as well myself. I Like to be the best at everything I do, knowing that this is not always the case, I always want to be the one who can say I tried my best and put all I had into this project.   As far as my worth in the future, It is only logical to believe that myself worth will continue to grow. 10.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   How self disciplined are you? Discipline is something that was instilled in me from an early age. I took martial arts from the age   6 to 15 and that is something that is highly stressed.   Discipline and consistency go hand-n-hand. If one shows consistency then he or she is a discipline. In the world of business today these two traits can make or break a persons career. 11.  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   What do you do to ensure that you remain healthy? exercise, good nutrition relaxation? Staying healthy is something that has to be done when playing athletics at the college level. We as a team have a nutritionist who looks after what we eat. We report to her weekly with a list of what we have consumed during the week. We also as a team take yoga, which is very relaxing. 12.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚     How well do you manage your personal and professional boundaries? Are you a good time manager? Do you keep your word? Are you responsible? Do you let other people down? Do you speak up when someone hurts you? Are you always   to please others? Do you know how to say no? I as a person I try to not to tell people how to their jobs or how   to handle their situations. I do give advice if asked but I respect peoples boundaries by not putting my input if asked. Of course if I was in the position where I had to tell people what their job is (i.e. basketball coach: telling his players what to do.)   then I can, that is how I manage boundaries both personal and professional. With school, sports, and work time management is a crucial skill to have and I believe that I have acquired this skill.   Days do not seem long enough as it is to get everything, so time management is what helps me be successful. In this world sometimes all a person has his/her word, so keeping ones word is very imperative. At every level this plays a vital role, personal and professional. With this understanding I try to keep my word. I have a high success rate with this, but there are times where unexpected   adversity arises that allow me to keep my promises. I see this as failure where others see it as an excuse or a reason. I, in these certain situations, do not look at the excuse or reason on why I could not complete what I said I   would but plainly see it as a mission not accomplished. letting people down is not an option for me. My parents, who are my biggest role models, never let me down; I try to duplicate this by demonstrating the same. People depend on others to get certain actions done so they can continue to do their work; I do not want that type of guilt on my shoulders. I eliminate that   by   pleasing others and not letting them down. I am a very honest and when someone does an action that bothers/hurts me I bring it up. I at the same time I am not controversial but I feel that if such things are   not fixed they can later grow into a bigger problem. 13.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   Do you   have good negotiation skills? What your decision making abilities? Do you have a good sense of judgment? Does your judgment protect you or get you into trouble? 14.  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   What kind of team player are you? The type of team player that I am is a motivator. I pretty much do not stand out when everything is going well, but when times of hardship seem to make their appearances I seem to shine. I have a great ability to bring people together in these times and prevail over many difficult circumstances. 15.  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   Do you have knowledge and experience outside of South Florida? How does that influence your perception of international HR management and of people who are different from you here in South Florida? Do you have aspirations to travel and or work outside of Florida or the United States? If so, what do you think you will have to learn in order to be a competent employee? The only experience outside South Florida is playing basketball. I feel   that that experience has little to no influence on how I perceive HR at the international level. As far as working outside of Florida   I do not foresee   that as a possibility as of now. That is not to say that I will not in the future. Abstract In this paper I will discuss my strengths and weaknesses and how they will pertain to the business world and many different HR policies.

Atmospheric-Pressure Plasma Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words

Atmospheric-Pressure Plasma - Essay Example However, the mechanism of regeneration of tissues through the short-time plasma exposure has not been explicitly revealed as yet in spite of its increased practical application. In order to improve the situation, it may be important to clarify the mechanism from multilateral standpoints including plasma science and engineering, molecular biology, and biochemistry. Therefore, we conducted a basic experiment on the direct irradiation of cells by using micro-spot atmospheric-pressure plasma source, which is hardly harmful to the living bodies both thermally and electromagnetically. In this experiment, murine fibroblast cell line (NIH3T3), which is usually used for cell experiments, was used and effect of plasma on the culture cells was considered. As a result of the experiment, it was revealed that cell multiplication is activated by plasma exposure. In response to the result, we considered factors related to the multiplication. Although there are many factors involved in the cell multi plication, we particularly focused on neoangiogenesis and NO production, and considered vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and acidic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF). Schematic diagram of the experimental apparatus is shown in Fig 1. The apparatus comprised a coaxial structure with tungsten electrodes employed in a glass capillary (internal diameter of plasma genesis region: 8 mm, internal diameter of the tip: 1 mm) with cylindrical electrodes on the exterior. High voltage for plasma generation was generated by externally-controlled high-voltage power supply device. Plasma generation conditions were: applied voltage: 5-9 kV; frequency: 1-3 kHz; helium (He) gas flow rate: 1 L/min; and plasma exposure time: 1-100 sec. It was found in the earlier studies that NO gas is not generated by this apparatus. In the experiment, a culture containing 1 x 105 murine fibroblast cell lines (NIH3T3) was set in a 12-hole culture vessel. It was cultured for 24 hours in a CO2 incubator (culture conditions: temperature: 37 deg. C and CO2 gas concentration: 5%). The medium was replaced with serum-free medium. The unprocessed specimens (control), those processed with He gas flow and others exposed to plasma were compared. Processing time for each specimen group was 1, 10 and 100 sec, respectively. They were cultured for 24 hours in CO2 incubator after plasma exposure and then cell forms were observed with optical microscope. Afterwards, only live cells of NIH3T3 cell line attached to the bottom face of the culture vessel were peeled off by trypsin treatment and the number of cells under each condition was counted, followed by consideration of multiplication rate changes among the conditions. In addition to that, they were continuously cultured for 7 days in NIH3T3 cell line. Differences in the cell multiplication curves of specimens exposed to plasma for 90 sec per day and those processed with He gas flow were also considered. With this experiment, we considered the effects o f plasma exposure on cell multiplication based on both the trends of exposure time-dependent cell multiplication and the effects of plasma exposure on cell multiplication. Fig 2 shows cells exposed to the plasma. Culture medium thickness was 6 mm. Plasma was radiated from capillary of 1 mm diameter to cells adhering to 6 cm2 base area at a flow rate of 1 L/min.

Maurya's Understanding of the Relationship between God, Humans and Essay

Maurya's Understanding of the Relationship between God, Humans and Nature - Essay Example It brings out a  clear  faith  of human beings on their  religion  and God on the various aspects of nature and Gods plans and outcomes that they cannot  control. We can  identify  this  faith  in religion and  fear  of nature when Maurya makes a  remark  of desperation saying, â€Å"God spare us, and we'll not see him again. He  has gone  now, and when the  black  night is falling I'll have no son left me in the world† (Synge, 2008). It  further  demonstrates the interdependence of humans on their  religion  and  nature  for survival even though the various fates that may befall them. They depend upon the sea for food for survival and of Gods  control  and protection against the various risk fatalities that face them. God’s role in Maurya’s  life In the play, Maurya depicts continual faith in God to be her  protector. This is to protect both her and men in her family. She believes in the  overall  power   and  control  of God over all people and nature. She acknowledges the fact that all humans and  nature  are God’s creations and that they are  different  entities functioning independently and affecting each other. Additionally, she believes that a human can affect the functioning and  state  of nature and vice versa. As such, people live in  dread  of the harsh possibilities that the sea holds against them that they can neither control nor predict. They, therefore,  opt  for God's  protection  and put faith in their religions to help them cope with such fears. Even after losing all the other men in her family to the sea with the same faith, Maurya still believes in prayer. This shows the need for  religion  and  faith  in dealing with what one cannot  control  that instills fear. Maurya holds her  faith  for fear of her remaining son’s life until the time when he  too  escaped from her by nature, and she makes peace with God, her faith and fear of the unknown fatalities of nature. This is evident in the  remark  that â€Å"They are all  dead  now there is nothing else greater the  sea  can do to me† (Synge, 2008). Nature’s role in Maurya’s  life It is ironical that Maurya fears the same  sea  that she mainly depends on for daily food. Her life is full of constant fear for the lives of the men in her family against the sea that feeds them (Synge, 2008). Though she acknowledges the fact that the sea and the winds are what  provide  them with food and  transport, she lives in the  constant  risks they pose to her family. Over the years, she has lost many men to the sea, but their  dependency  on the same  sea  for life leads them to  accept  such risks and their fates to the  sea  to ensure they are able to  maintain  life. She finds herself to be helpless to the fatalities of the  sea  to her family as one by one escape from her. As a result, they  accept  the deaths of those taken by the  sea  and continue on with their fishing activities with  faith  in their  religion  for protection against facing the same fates. Maurya’s acceptance of god and natures roles of death in her life is evident in Mauryas response to Bartley when she says, â€Å"†¦and I, an old woman looking for the grave?† (Synge, 2008). This shows her acceptance of death. Towards the end of the play, Maurya accepts the sad fact that all humans must  die  at one time or another through various means.  She accepts that her lost  family  is now  together  in accordance to her religious faith and further prays for the protection of the still living

Racism Prejudice Crash

Racism Prejudice Crash Crash The movie Crash gives many examples of how racism and prejudice affect nearly everyones lives. . Racism and prejudice surround us. This movie follows people of various races and social classes and details the encounters of these people with each other. It suggests that everyone has to deal with their own racism and prejudice, no matter what their own race, class or ethnicity is. According to Sullivan, racism is the view that certain racial or ethnic groups are inferior and that practices involving their domination are therefore justified. Racism from multiple ethnic groups is illustrated many times in the movie Crash. Prejudice is â€Å"an irrational attitude toward certain people based solely on their membership in a particular group,† according to Sullivan. Prejudice is another main theme in the movie. The first example of racism and prejudice in Crash is the character played by Matt Dillon. At first glance, his character seems to be racist because of the way that he was raised by his parents. Dillon exhibited a close bond with his father and later, we discover the roots of his racism. I originally assumed that Dillon was absorbing external cues from his father regarding his attitudes towards black people. It turns out that his father was not racist towards black people. It was Dillon who, in combination with his fathers negative experiences and his own as a member of the LAPD, formed his own perceptions towards blacks. Dillons character looks down on every black person that he encounters, and even uses his power as a police officer to grope a black female in front of her husband, simply because he can. One main example of racism and prejudice occurred at the beginning of the film when the Persian family was attempting to purchase a gun. The clerk at the gun shop made a few blatantly racist comments about the perceptions of the customers. There were several references to the twin towers and planes. It didnt matter that the two were Persian, not Arab. A reoccurring theme was that post 9/11, all Middle Eastern people became potential terrorists. It is amazing that people have the ability to interpret bad events and cast their own prejudices on different ethnic groups to mask their feeling of anger and frustration. Certain stereotypes have stood the test of time, no matter how many strides for racial equality have been made. Sandra Bullocks character made the statement about the relationship between white and black people: â€Å"If a white woman sees two black men walking towards her and turns the other way, shes a racist. Well I got scared and didnt say anything, and the next thing I knew, I had a gun shoved in my head!† Perhaps stereotypes like that have maintained their prevalence because there are so many people that perpetuate them. It is often believed that all young black men are destined to be thugs, criminals and drug dealers. As a young black man, it must be difficult to break free of that stereotype. â€Å"Things will never change.† That attitude along with the perpetuation of existing stereotypes may be largely responsible for negative racial longevity. Ludacris character was one of the most interesting to me. Here was this articulate young black man that spent his life stealing cars from white people. â€Å"Rap music is the music of the oppressor,† he said. It is often easier to blame others for your shortcomings than it is to confront them head on. On the reverse, trouble facing stereotypes can occur anywhere. They are not simply restricted to skin-tone and neighborhoods. Racial discrimination transpires through social class as well. This creates division within the same racial groups. In the film, Cameron was portrayed as a wealthy, black, television actor. He achieved success as a hard working black man, but at what cost? Cameron faced scrutiny from both of his ‘people, namely his wife and from his white producer. It was like a catch-22, if he wanted to be successful, he needed to act like a white man. With that came two major problems. Just because he had a good paying job, he failed to acknowledge that all the money in the world couldnt change the fact that he was, â€Å"Indeed a black man.† Look what happened with the LAPD, they did not care that he was a law abiding Buddhist, he was still black. With the success he had as an actor, it was also possible that he developed a complex, thinking he was entitled to white privileges. As a result of that theoretical complex, he faced a flood of embarrassment, shame, frustration, and anger. We as a society have gotten so emotionally complicated that we have developed a prevalent selfishness and apathy towards understanding others. It is easier to label someone a gang-banger, because it dehumanized them. Snap judgments are often made because we have it all figured out. Everyone is lumped into his or her respective categories and we accept it because things are uncomplicated when everything is in a neat little package. Rather than taking the time to move past initial stereotypes and preconceived notions, we often get it completely wrong. When Sandra Bullock, first saw the Mexican locksmith, she made a snap judgment. â€Å"He is a gang-banger because of his shaved head, prison tattoos and his pants around his ass.† She determined that he was going to sell her house keys to one of his â€Å"homeys.† Contrary to her analysis, he was a soft-spoken, sensitive family man. Bullocks discrimination at the beginning of the film could be interpreted as blatant but somewhat covert. She didnt anticipate that he would hear her comments and if she had, I assume she would have expressed herself in private to avoid the awkward social situation when he left. Regardless, it was wrong and hurtful. The Persian shopkeeper cast a similar first impression based solely on existing stereotypes. He made the false assumption that the Mexican locksmith was a member of some elaborate scheme to rip him off. The shopkeepers brazen ignorance and inability to listen prevented him from hearing valuable information. If he had listened, he would have gotten a new door and thus prevented the vandalism. Neither Bullock nor the shopkeeper took the time to familiarize themselves with him and move past their own prejudices. To them, he was just passing by temporarily to fix the glitch of inconvenience that was disrupting their lives. It is easy to relate the movie Crash to the conflict perspective. According to Sullivan, the conflict perspective is based on â€Å"the idea that society consists of different groups who struggle with one another to attain the scarce societal resources that are considered valuable, be they money, power, prestige, or the authority to impose ones values on society.† This movie fits into this theory because there are many groups (blacks, whites, etc.) that are constantly struggling and belittling each other so that their group can be the one in power. It is this struggle that has created racism, prejudice and stereotypes. Until we as a society can take the time to understand the roots of discrimination and take a good look at our own thought patterns, well never move forward. Films like Crash are forcing us to look outside are own lives and fears, to realize that were more alike than we think. Aside from the 2% genetic differences between us, we all have problems and internal struggles. Thats what makes us human.

Racial Diversity In Society Worksheet Essay

Select 1 racial group from the list below: African American Write a 150- to 300-word summary of the economic, social, and political standings of that group. Use additional resources if necessary, from the University Library or your textbooks. Provide citations for all the sources you use. There are gaps between incomes when comparing all racial groups. The group that I chose to study is African Americans. According to our text book, there is a significant gap between the incomes of the Black and White households (Schaefer). In 2009, the median income of Black households was $32,584. This is much lower than that of the White households holding at $54,461. Household incomes for African Americans have been gradually rising and can be seen in the median household income for the year 2013, $41,142, according to the tables provided in MySocLab Social Explorer Map: Income Inequality by Race (). There is also a low possibility of African Americans owning a home because of the lower income, but also due to discriminatory lending practices (Schaefer). Employment is another area that is held lower for African Americans. The unemployment rates have been high since the 1940s. The unemployment rate for Black males aged 16-24was 35 % during the height of the recession; this is very high because the national unemployment rate was this high during the Great depression. The social standings for this group, African American, is also much lower than Whites. There is a 39.2% rate for Black families with two parents and a 49.7% rate for those  families that are only maintained by the mother (Schaefer, Figure 8.4). From a political standing, even though Barak Obama has entered and been in the White House, African Americans still have not received an equal share of the political percentages. Schaefer, Richard T. Racial and Ethnic Groups. 13th ed. N.p.: Merril Prentice Hall, n.d. Print. Copyright 2012 by Pearson Education, Inc. Part II Answer the following in 50 to 150 words each. Provide citations for all the sources you use. What is racism? In what ways does racism affect diversity? Racism is the belief and opinion that people form based on the characteristics, stereotypes, and attributes that people have or belong to based on the racial group that the person is categorized in. Racism is also the belief that one race is superior to others. Racism can affect diversity in specific ways. If racism is present, it can prevent diversity in an area because of the way that other races are treated. There could be laws made, such as segregation, that keep diversity from occurring. How do racial groups interact in contemporary America? Are interactions positive, negative, or neutral? Support your response using proper citations. Racial groups are much more interactive than before. In contemporary America, schools are diverse. The period of segregation of Blacks and Whites is not present. The case of Brown V. Board of Education in 1954 was a milestone for diversity and racism. This helped by ending segregation in schools and exposing students to other cultures and races. Although there is still racism in the United States, the level of racism is not as high and diversity is much higher. I would say that the interactions are more neutral because of the fact that there is still racism in America. Another way that racial groups interact is within the workplace. There are also  interracial relationships between different races that had before been never thought of as happening. Are there existing social inequities based on race? Why or why not? There are still existing social inequalities based on race today. There may not be as many as in history, but they still exist. These social inequalities based on race are seen in the workplace, admissions in schools (whether the minority or majority), and in politics. There are some racial groups that may be passed up for on a job opportunities because they may not be â€Å"viewed† as what fits for that position. There is also a discussion that minorities are given more of an opportunity when being admitted into colleges, while passing up on those that may be more qualified; this is the same for the workplace. In politics, we do see that we have our first African American President, but there is still a ways to go before all racial groups are completely equal. What do you believe to be the causes of racial prejudice and discrimination in today’s society? I believe that the causes of racial prejudice and discrimination in today’s society has to do with the way children are being raised and the opinions that people form based on stereotypes that have been passed down for generations. There are people that still have racist views of other racial groups, and they may or may not teach their children or grandchildren to have the same views. There are many people that are much more open minded and accepting of other views and racial groups; but there are still those that are closed minded and view their group as the superior one.

Assessing the Quality of Education in the Philippines Essay

The goal of this Article is to ensure that quality education will be vailable to Filipinos from all walks of life in four corners of our country. Why powers and functions of and Dep- Ed does the 3 education bodies put into action their duties and powers for delivering of quality education and holistic development of Filipino students and graduates? Dep-Ed, CHED and TESDA are working hand in hand independently from each other. These three education bodies report directly to the Office of the President. Like what was mentioned above, the three sectors are all mandated to ensure the quality of education in their own respective level. The separation of 3 bodies ensures that there would be the necessary attention, priorities and resources for all levels. Each sector also ensures the readiness of a student to the next level. For example, Dep-Ed needs to make sure that the graduating elementary students are all ready and prepared to handle the programs and curriculum of high school level until they finish high schools. A student who finished high school should be ready to the tasks and programs in college either a bachelor degree or vocational courses. Given that these three educational bodies work accordingly and will be given the mandated resources nd budget, the quality of education in the Philippines would soon be competitive and be affordable to every Filipino child. The education plan on the reform to be initiated by the new president of the Philippines. length of education to global standard which was from 10 years to 12 years. I have two stands on this initiative. First, the idea of aligning the length of education to the global standard would be an effective way of ensuring that our grade school and high school students have the enough time to get the necessary quality of education Time as evolved so fast and it has been said that the only constant in world is change. It could be Just appropriate to align our education duration to global standard to ensure our students would be able to cope with the rapid- changing society. On the other hand, this initiative would only be effective to private schools whose students are fewer than the students in public schools. Also, I do not agree with this initiative as I do not see any problem with the length of education in the Philippines even if it doesn’t really follow the global standard. I believed that it is not the length of basic ducation that we need to focus on. Philippines was able to make good and topped student that has excel in many filel and in many countries with the education we have. What we need to focus on are the numbers of classrooms and facilities in public school, strengthening the research for all levels and increasing the numbers of public teachers. We need to focus on the materials and resources we are to give to our education sector and strengthen the existing policy for us all to be effective. Give your stand regarding the criticism on sex education by the Dep- Ed and church? Sex education has been one of the 3 most controversial topic across all corners in the Philippines. For the longest time, sex education has been the discrepancy of parents whether to discuss it with their children or not. I partially agree to the motion of sex education among our students. I guess it would be time for our students to end their curiosity. Sex, whether we like it or not, is a subject we all need to discuss with our kids. We got no choice but to discuss sex with them since this is something that has been abused by many young people. Sex has been abused and has been done because young people were not disciplined and educated to them. It is said in the bible that sex is a gift from God and should only be done by a married couple. It is also said in the bible that God asked us to promulgate. However, it is also mentioned in the bible that once we have promulgate across all over the world then it we need to take the measures to control it. Young people, at the right time and at the right way, needs to be educated with sex. A good curriculum is needed to ensure good education regarding sex to our young people.
